BIG SUR LOTS
In December of 2020 we received two lots on a ridge above the Pacific in Big Sur. The lots were donated to us, because the owners of the land wanted it to remain natural and undeveloped. They asked us to take title, because they knew our mission coincided with their desires, to protect and restore habitat.

The lots together comprise about 137 acres, and if offered for residential development would be quite valuable. The southermost lot overlooks Division Knoll and the famous Bixby Creek Bridge, as well as the Rocky Creek Bridge, both on Highway One. The northernmost lot views are to Rocky Point on the shore, and the northern Santa Lucia Mountains.

This land is prime condor habitat, but not in the sense they are nesting there, or even frequently perching there. It is important condor habitat because it is part of their vast hunting territory, another piece of the puzzle. Also, it is equally important for many other species of animals and plants. Lions are seen there, and bobcats, redwoods and native orchids, among the many other species that need wild, undeveloped space.
